Share Our Congregation's Thoughts

There are many web sites that will offer an introduction to the Christian faith. The Diocese of Durham site includes such a page but you might also like to visit www.christianevidence.org.uk or www.rejesus.co.uk . The comments below were collected following a church service in September 2002. They are an attempt to reflect something of our faith as a congregation....what is important to us as individuals. We don’t all have the same beliefs but find that the Christian tradition offers us ‘scaffolding’ within which to explore a life of faith.

I enjoy the love and fellowship that surrounds me here.

I have found that even through my trials I am able to go on because of my faith. Even though it is weak at times God always gets me through.

I like the peace it (church) brings me.

I feel close to God and my Family and love the peace I feel in our beautiful church.

Our church is like a big happy club – where everyone cares about you.

Prayer for me is developing a relationship with God. I think it is important to join with the church family regularly for worship and fellowship.

We come together as a family to worship God, to pray and enjoy being together.

I don’t understand everything – but I’m always ready to listen and learn. I believe God is all around us, even in my home and when I’m down or sad I remind myself and talk to Him.

To me faith is strength. Without faith there is no hope for man (sic).

‘I know that my redeemer liveth’ (set to music by Handel) is as relevant today in the 21st century. Faith, hope and love are from God and it is this strong belief that keeps me going from one day to another.

Prayer is talking to God, expressing my fears and finding peace of mind.

The most important thing for me is to be able to attend church.

Prayer for me is (at 73 years) cool.
